Vauxhall Reveals 199mph Electric Corsa Concept!
Vauxhall Unveils 199mph Electric Corsa Concept for Gran Turismo 7
Vauxhall has pulled the covers off a stunning new all-electric concept car that pushes the boundaries of compact performance – the Corsa GSe Vision Gran Turismo. Set to make its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 8, the radical new model will not be heading to dealerships, but will instead hit virtual roads as part of Gran Turismo 7, the iconic racing game franchise.
While this concept won’t be available to drive in real life, gamers will be able to experience its extreme performance in the digital world. Designed as a bold statement of intent, the Corsa GSe Vision Gran Turismo offers a glimpse into the future of Vauxhall’s design and engineering direction – and may well influence the next-generation Corsa.
“The Vauxhall Corsa GSe Vision Gran Turismo takes the GSe sub-brand to the next level,” said Steve Catlin, Managing Director at Vauxhall. “It not only shows what is possible on a small car platform, it also displays a clear view to the future.”
Weighing just 1,170kg, the concept features an advanced 82kWh battery and a dual-motor, fully electric all-wheel-drive powertrain. The combined output of 800hp and 800Nm of torque allows the car to rocket from 0 to 62mph in just two seconds, with a top speed of 199mph (320km/h). A unique boost button on the steering wheel delivers an additional 80hp for up to four seconds, with the feature recharging in four 20-second intervals once depleted.
This performance showcase comes as Vauxhall expands its GSe (Grand Sport Electric) sub-brand, initially known for sporty plug-in hybrids, into a broader electric performance lineup. In July, the company confirmed a new Mokka GSe, a performance-focused version of the Mokka Electric, delivering 280PS from a single front-mounted motor — almost double the output of the standard version.
The Corsa GSe Vision Gran Turismo may be confined to the virtual world, but it signals a bold new era for Vauxhall’s electric ambitions, where compact size no longer means compromising on performance.
