Vauxhall Unleashes 280bhp Mokka GSE Rally Prototype for Electric Motorsport Debut
Vauxhall Unveils the Mokka GSE Rally Prototype – A 280bhp Electric Thrill Machine
Vauxhall has just given its compact SUV a serious shot of adrenaline. Meet the Mokka GSE Rally – a bold, electrified prototype built to conquer rally stages and turn heads along the way. Forget what you thought you knew about the everyday Mokka – this one means business.
Built as the first car to meet the FIA’s new eRally5 regulations, the Mokka GSE Rally is Vauxhall’s exciting new entry into the world of electric motorsport. It’s set to make its high-voltage debut in the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup on 23-24 May, showcasing just how far the Mokka has come.
Under the skin, the transformation is serious. Vauxhall has upgraded the suspension to a performance-ready Bilstein setup, added a rally-spec gearbox, limited-slip differential, reinforced drive shafts, and beefed-up axles. The result? A fully electric rally machine pushing out 280bhp and 254lb ft of torque from the familiar 54kWh battery – but with far more punch than the standard road car.
There are no driver aids here – no ABS, no ESP, no lane assist. Instead, you get an FIA-approved roll cage, racing seats with six-point harnesses, and the raw thrill of real rally driving.
And the looks? Just as bold as the performance. The Mokka GSE Rally wears a striking new livery, a giant “OMG” decal, roof scoop, yellow brake callipers, and aggressive new wheels. It’s the Mokka like you've never seen it before.
“With our new Mokka GSE Rally, we are offering a glimpse of a fully electric next-generation rally car,” said Vauxhall/Opel CEO Florian Huettl. “Thanks to the latest motorsport technology, the prototype offers potent performance and power in equal measure.”
This isn’t just a one-off experiment – it’s a clear statement: Vauxhall is serious about performance, electric innovation, and fun.
